Types of Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies include:

  • Knocked out tooth
  • Broken or cracked tooth
  • Loose or lost fillings or crowns
  • Severe toothache

How to Cope with Dental Emergencies

There are certain things you can do to help increase the chances of successful recovery and lower your pain before you arrive at our office.

  • Attempt to place a knocked out tooth back into its socket. If you can’t, store it in milk (not water) or in your mouth to prevent it drying out and dying. A tooth is most likely to survive if it is replaced within one hour.
  • Cover lost fillings or cracked teeth with OTC dental cement or sugar free chewing gum to protect the nerve and prevent further damage.
  • Use ice or pain relievers to minimize the pain of a toothache, or any other dental emergency.

Waiting will only make an emergency situation worse. If you are in pain and need dental assistance in Brookline, Cambridge, Newton, or anywhere in the Boston metro area, call CITIDental Brookline now.
